Who by Fire: Coping with Grief in Israeli Society
Israeli society has grappled with grief since its beginning. This struggle unfolds through dialogue with Jewish tradition and the creation of new poetry and literature. In this workshop, we delve into the ways Israeli society copes with grief—through poetry, the Bible and the body. Dr. Englander, an interdiscplinary researcher and author, experienced grief during his service in a body identification unit at the IDF and has engaged in a profound dialogue with representatives of Zaka—Israel's rescue and recovery organization—in recent weeks.

JCRC senior professionals will provide a briefing on the state of play across the Bay Area, touching on issues in our schools, universities, city councils and progressive politics. Learn in this hands-on workshop how to effectively tailor your messaging as an advocate in conversations with civic, elected, and community leaders in your area, and best practices on how to respond effectively to maximize chances of successful outcomes for the Jewish and Israeli communities.
