Benjamin Richman
Shaliach
Founder, OpenLev
Benjamin is the founder of OpenLev, the NYC-based events hub for Jewish wellness and spiritual community, and a Shaliach (emissary) of the emerging Ivri Movement. He co-produced the inaugural Ivri Volume 1, mapping the growing landscape of Jewish spiritual innovation, and is currently raising funds to launch the first-ever Ivri Fellowship, an initiative supporting visionary Jewish spiritual leaders.
At the heart of Benjamin’s work is a passion for bringing the wisdom of his Jewish ancestral lineage to life through experiences that meet people where they are. He draws inspiration from the Hebrew calendar and its deep connection to the earth, its rhythm with the seasons, and the emotional and spiritual cycles of what it means to be human.
Benjamin stewards a weekly Jewish meditation gathering in Brooklyn and facilitates men’s work, retreats, and rites of passage, creating spaces for presence, meaningful connection, and authentic self-expression. A certified yoga and meditation teacher and conscious dance DJ, he loves bringing community together through movement, mindfulness, and heart-centered ritual to celebrate the gift of being alive!
Prior to his work in Jewish spiritual community building, Benjamin held senior leadership roles in technology and finance, including Managing Director at Silvergate Bank, where he led a team of 30 and oversaw a $16 billion business. He holds an MBA from Duke University and serves on the board of the Institute for Jewish Spirituality (IJS).
