Join us for a timely and searching conversation with Rabbi Elliot J. Cosgrove, Senior Rabbi of Park Avenue Synagogue and one of the leading voices of American Jewry, as he reflects on his new book, For Such a Time as This: On Being Jewish Today. Rabbi Cosgrove will be interviewed by Barry Finestone, President and CEO of the Jim Joseph Foundation, whose work has shaped Jewish education and leadership across the country.

Written in the aftermath of October 7, For Such a Time as This confronts a rupture that has reshaped Jewish consciousness worldwide. The book explores the stark rise in antisemitism, the evolving relationship between Israel and American Jewry, and the enduring question of how Jews understand themselves in a world that has repeatedly turned against them. Yet alongside fear and fracture, Rabbi Cosgrove identifies something equally powerful: a renewed sense of Jewish connection, responsibility and peoplehood.

Drawing on Jewish history, tradition and lived experience, Rabbi Cosgrove brings warmth, clarity and moral seriousness to questions with no easy answers. In conversation with Barry Finestone, he will explore what this moment demands of Jewish leaders, institutions and individuals, and how Jewish life can remain rooted, courageous and purposeful in uncertain times.
