Gal Atia
CPO & Head of Jewish Agency Delegation to North America
The Jewish Agency for Israel
In mid-2024, Gal was appointed The Jewish Agency's Head of Delegation for North America. In this role, he oversees Shlichut (Israeli emissary service) across the region, helping to strengthen connections between Jewish communities and Israel mainly through the work of The Jewish Agency's amazing Shlichim (Israeli emissaries). Gal is also responsible for managing The Jewish Agency's Aliyah-related services in North America. In May 2025, Gal was also appointed as the Agency's Chief Program Officer in North America.
Previously, Gal directed The Jewish Agency's Summer Shlichut Program (2021-2024), managing relationships with hundreds of camps and organizations while supervising seasonal staff. From 2018-2021, he served as the Director of Education and Shlichut Coordinator for the program, developing a comprehensive training curriculum for 1,500 Shlichim each year. Before joining The Jewish Agency, Gal's career included roles as a special education teacher in Tel Aviv and National Director of Camp Leaders Israel.
Gal's own Shlichut journey began in 2008 at Camp Ramah in Wisconsin, where he held leadership roles such as Rosh Mishlachat (head of delegation), Yoetz (social worker) and Program Director. His Shlichut experiences deepened his connection to Jewish life and identity and broadened his perspective on what it means to be Jewish. It was also at camp that he met his wife, Adi.
Gal earned a bachelor's degree in special education from the Levinsky College of Education. He also took part in M2-The Institute for Experiential Jewish Education's Senior Educator cohort and was a fellow in the Mandel Institute for Nonprofit Leadership's program.
