Opening Plenary

10:00 AM – 12:00 PM

Are We Still Zionists?

Breakout Round 1

1:00 PM – 2:15 PM

Are We Still Welcome?

Comparative-case panel asking when ideological or institutional belonging becomes conditional on disavowing part of oneself, while distinguishing genuine exclusion from overstatement, ideological overreaction, and legitimate boundary-setting.

1:00 PM – 2:15 PM

How Did Anti-Zionism Become a Global Language?

Historical and ideological genealogy tracing how anti-Zionism became a global political language, with Daniel translating the history into present communal judgment and guarding against overapplication.

1:00 PM – 2:15 PM

Whose Future Are We Building?

Central question: How do we build communities when national, religious, and civic identities don't always fit neatly together?

Zionism links Israel's future to that of Jews around the world, but citizenship, national identity, and religion do not always fit neatly together. Miriam Awad Morad works on civic participation among Arab citizens of Israel. Omer Shalev develops Jewish engagement initiatives connecting Israel and communities abroad. Rabbi Ezra Balser builds Jewish life with young American Jews. Drawing on their work, and moderated by Maia Zelkha, they will ask where these identities reinforce one another, where they create competing expectations, and how those tensions shape the communities people build. Who gets a voice when priorities differ?

Breakout Round 2

2:30 PM – 3:45 PM

New Zionist Frontiers

Compare three forms of Jewish authorship after sovereignty: Roee on place/community rebuilding, Reuven on Israeli refounding/internalized sovereignty, and Ariela on Diaspora communal authorship, with Betzy translating the examples into institutional judgment.

2:30 PM – 3:45 PM

What Are We Educating Jews to Become?

Ezra opens with a short research framing: the Zionist/anti-Zionist binary does not adequately describe how many American Jews relate to Israel and Jewish life. He then interrogates David, Samantha, and Yahal around the central question: if these are the Jews we are educating, what are we trying to form, and what does success look like? David brings the institutional/big-tent tension and contested boundaries; Samantha brings North American educational formation; Yahal brings what Israel can generate culturally and educationally for Diaspora Jewish life.

2:30 PM – 3:45 PM

Does the Horseshoe Explain Antisemitism?

Test what the horseshoe framework clarifies or obscures about contemporary antisemitism and anti-Zionism, with particular emphasis on meaningful distinctions and own-side accountability rather than artificial symmetry.

Closing Plenary
