Dr. Ted M. Kahn is the co-founder and CEO of DesignWorlds for Learning, Inc and DesignWorlds for College & Careers. Ted has been a pioneer in advanced R&D and application of interactive digital multimedia technologies for lifelong learning for over 50 years, and he specializes in co-designing and curating digital resources through open source "learning collaboratories". He has had affiliations with prestigious institutions such as  UC Berkeley, Xerox Palo Alto Research Center (PARC), Atari and the Institute for Research on Learning (IRL). He has also had  Senior Fellow or Visiting Scholar affiliations with UCLA School of Education & Information Studies, Stanford Media X and currently with the Center for Digital Curricula at University of Michigan, as well as now being an Adjunct Professor with the Dept. of Forestry and Natural Resources & the Center for Global Soundscapes at Purdue. A longtime futurist, Ted was also an early pioneer in educational technology in Israel, where he lived and worked during and following the Yom Kippur War from 1973-75 and later helped bring the first personal computers for use in education to Israel while he was the founding Executive Director of the Atari Institute for Educational Action Research from 1981-83. Ted has also had many affiliations with science, technology, art and children’s museums, including him and his wife, Frona, being founding board members of the Children’s Discovery Museum of San Jose from 1983-87. He also helped bring the first digital virtual “exhibits” to the Contemporary Jewish Museum of San Francisco in 1997-98. Ted holds a BA in computer science and a Ph.D. in psychology, all from UC Berkeley, and he and Frona are proud parents of two adult sons, Dr. Yoni Kahn and Aaron Kahn—all also wonderful musicians—and one grandson, Micah.
