Itamar Kremer is an Israeli educator, author and social entrepreneur working at the intersection of education, Jewish identity and democracy. For more than two decades, he has led educational initiatives in Israel and internationally, focusing on civic responsibility, Jewish peoplehood and the role of education in sustaining democratic societies.
Kremer is the founding director of Israel Education Watch (Mishmar HaChinuch HaMamlachti), a civic initiative that mobilizes parents, educators and community leaders across Israel to protect and strengthen public education. Over the course of his career, Kremer has held a wide range of leadership roles in education. He served as the principal of the Shitim School in the Arava, led national educational programs for underserved communities and directed the Koret International School for Jewish Peoplehood at the ANU – Museum of the Jewish People in Tel Aviv. He has also worked extensively in informal education and Jewish identity programs, including leadership roles in youth movements and international Jewish educational initiatives.
He is the author of the Hebrew book Kaplan at the Corner of Halacha: Toward a New Israeli-Jewish Social Contract, which explores the future relationship between Judaism, democracy and Israeli society. He is currently working on an English adaptation of the book for Jewish audiences in North America.
Since the outbreak of the current war, Kremer has also served extensively in the Israel Defense Forces reserves, accumulating hundreds of days of reserve duty while continuing his educational and public work.
Kremer regularly lectures in Israel and internationally on democratic education, Jewish cultural identity and the evolving relationship between Israel and the Jewish Diaspora.
