Micki Weinberg is the founder and director of SHIUR, an international project for critical encounter with Jewish texts, art, culture, and public discourse, with active chapters in Berlin, New York, Israel, Miami, and other parts of the world. Since its founding in 2018, SHIUR has produced hundreds of programs across more than 25 cities in 18 countries, bringing together leading artists, scholars, diplomats, writers, political thinkers, and participants from Jewish, Arab, Iranian, Druze, Kurdish, Yazidi, and other backgrounds.

Through salons, seminars, dinners, retreats, exhibitions, and public programs, SHIUR has developed a distinctive model centered on guided engagement with Jewish primary texts, bringing neglected and forgotten parts of the Jewish bookshelf into conversation with art, philosophy, theory, policy, and contemporary culture. Its work is rooted in a belief in people’s capacity to contend with complexity and in the possibility of generating new thought through encounter.

Weinberg is a writer, film director, photographer, and educator whose work moves between Jewish thought, Kabbalah, contemporary art, theory, political culture, and questions of interpretation and meaning. Born in Los Angeles, he studied at UC Berkeley, Hebrew University, and the Mir Yeshiva, and worked at Goldman Sachs from 2007 to 2010. He has been in and out of Berlin since 2011.
